Meeting Santa

Ok, this is the last one for now. A few weeks ago Phoebe and I went to the mall to meet Santa. She was so interested the whole way through the line and then Santa had some wise words for me once it was our turn. He saw that I had a baby and he said, "bring her in backwards, don't let her see me and we'll try to get a shot quickly." I responded with "Oh, she's a really friendly baby, I don't know that it will be so bad." Well, I did what Santa asked, anyhow, but it didn't work. She saw him and proceeded to SCREAM.

Mommy wasn't planning on having her picture taken this day, but it was the only way. Then I got scolded by Santa...yes scolded. He said, and I quote, "You may have one of these but I have THOUSANDS of these, always listen to Santa." Ha ha ha......or Ho Ho Ho, whatever :)

Here's a couple more. Once we've done stockings and such I am sure I will have more to publish.

Some more Christmas Eve/Christmas day photos

Wendy got a new bed for Christmas. She normally sleeps with us and we are trying to break the habit. She actually slept most of last night in her own bed!

Phoebe hasn't seemed all that interested in anything going on with Christmas. Of course, this time last year she was only two months old and was just a tini-tiny little baby hangin' out.
Finally, yesterday evening she started getting into all the things under the tree, however, she really wouldn't open anything, even when daddy and mommy tried to help.

I suppose we should count our blessings. Next year it will probably be all we can do to keep her out of the packages :)

Here are some of the lovely decorations up at our house. Looks like Santa was very good to us all! I hope Santa was good to you, too.

Croup and other stuff

So we had our first battle with Croup. It's terrible. For those of you not in the know it basically causes the throat to swell shut and then all this phlegm causes the inability to breath properly. It's highly contagious among babies and we think she caught it from someone at school.

So for 3 days she was on a steriod for the swelling and then for 10 days on antibiotics. Luckily she took her medicine like a trooper and she's all better now.

She is super funny as she tries

Phoebe's Uncle Josh and Aunt Ashlie bought Phoebe a rocking horse but she seemed just as happy to climb on the box.

Phoebe received a baby BBQ set from Nannie and Papa. This is Phoebe dressed up in the chef outfit that goes with it.

This is Phoebe and her friend from school playing at the party

Phoebe did pretty good with her cake

Phoebe's first birthday cake!

We took Phoebe to The Texas State Fair a couple of weeks ago. She loved it. She did really well, too. It was certainly hard navigating the stroller through the crowds, but oh well. She got to taste her first Corny Dog and her first Funnel cake. We ran into someone from work and she gave her a tiny taste of cotton candy, too. It was a fun day!

Phoebe is getting to be quite the swimmer. She is getting better and better at every lesson. This picture is at her Aunt's pool. We do actual swim lessons every Saturday morning at 9:15. As of yesterday's lesson she was able to swim and hold her breath for 7 seconds!

Here is a picture of how TALL Phoebe is getting. She is sitting in a grown up chair, just as reference.

Phoebe loves to dance around, this is her swinging back and forth in the crib!

More updates

So I need to post some new photos. Our computer crashed last week and we lost ALL of our photos. THANK GOD I had just saved them all to disk, so I need to dig those out and get posting.

For now I wanted to let you all know that she is eating like a fiend. She has really been eating solid foods quite well. We finally picked her up some Gerber Graduates so she can have her own little meals. They look sort of like T.V. dinners. They have an entree and a veg. We have been feeding her off our plates but this imposes two problems. One, I have to take a lot of time slicing things into small enough bites and Two, I never get to eat because I am so busy getting her fed. She FREAKS out if it takes me to long. So with baby meals everything is already small bites.

She has also been eating the Gerber snacks. We just got her some fruit snacks which she LOVES.

We think she's going through another growth spurt because she is eating just about every two hours. She is only 50th percentile in weight, so maybe she is catching up.

In other news, she has started swim lessons. Today was her second and she seems to be doing ok. I don't think she likes it when she sucks in water, but who really does. She also cries doing her dives into the pool, but for only having had two lessons I think she is doing pretty good.

We'll get some new photos on soon.

Phoebe updates

So I started inservice last Tuesday, which means Phoebe is back in school. I only had a half day on Tuesday so she wasn't at school long. She had her 9 month check up that morning (even though she's closer to ten months at this point). She weighs 18.14 pounds (50th percentile) and she is 31 inches long (97th percentile). Basically she's tall and thin!

When I went to pick her up I was told that she had yelled at her teachers :) Apparently she and her old friend, Caleb, were so happy to see eachother again that they started to get into some trouble. They were trying to play in the garbage can and when her teacher told her "no" she yelled at her. He he he....

On Wednesday when I went to pick her up she had blood all over her shirt and her upper lip was all swollen. She's cutting teeth and so is chewing on everything. She fell over while chewing on a toy and cut her lip.

On Thursday when I went to pick her up she had fallen and smacked her head. I had to sign an "ouch" report again. Now she has a lovely bruise on her forehead. I guess this is all part of the learning how to stand and walk phase.

On Friday when I went to pick her up I was told that everything was good, no ouch reports, no yelling. However the principal went into her room about half way through the day and wanted to know why the teachers kept paging her. The teachers said they hadn't called her at all and then they figured out that Phoebe was able to reach the phone from her bed and that she had been calling the front office. Ha ha ha. They told me they think she was trying to me :)

Check out my Slide Show!

We have been keeping up to date with Phoebe's first year photo frame. The top photo is her eight month photo. The bottom photo is Phoebe being silly with her Eeyore blanket. Also, if you can't tell what that is she's playing with it's a paci. It's the ONLY paci she's ever had and she has no idea what to do with it. It's pretty funny. I didn't like the idea of the paci so I never really gave her one. She got this one from one of her Great Aunt's and she basically chews around the edges of it but never puts it in her mouth.

Here are some more vacation Photos of Phoebe. The first one is her first time in a real restaurant style high chair. She did pretty good, a little wobbly, but good. We were at Red Robin on the Piers in Seattle. The second photo is her first experience playing in grass! We were at her God parents house in Portland. She can't play in the grass here, unfortunately, because there are too many creepy crawlies! The last photo is of Phoebe at her Grampy's house. She liked this donkey!

Phoebe and Pat at the Seattle Aquarium
Phoebe at the Seattle Science Center

We recently took a trip to Seattle and Ellensburg. We spent the first week in Seattle and Phoebe and I stayed on for a week in Ellensburg. While in Seattle we took her to the aquarium and the science center. She seemed to enjoy both. We also spent a lot of time meeting up with old friends. She did VERY well, considering all the new people and new places and new time zone!

Phoebe's First Easter

Here is our little Darling on her first Easter!
